SMASH Home Made Hype Competition

Country of Origin: United States of America

Media Type Utilized: Painter Tool SAI, Adobe Photoshop

Series Description: Imagine, if you will, the story of a young man content with his life; he has the satisfactory job, the lukewarm relationship with his girlfriend, and the eagerly burnt bridge from his parents. Now re-envision this story: the global economy is failing and the dreaded pink slip finds its way into the young man's hands. Open your mind a little more to imagine him trudging back to the university, pouring his life’s profit in an effort to snatch that higher degree. Dealing with those student loans will be tough-

-but not as tough as realizing he has an uncontrollable psychic ability, one that destroys half the university campus in a singular fateful moment.

One witness to the incident: a socially-mutated female peer who is found guilty by association. Imagine now our young man expelled, without funds, evading murder charges, and contemplating locating the nearest asylum. It is a supernatural miracle when a man of “Family Business” arrives to aid our hero by employing his newly found ‘artistic’ skills. There is a world of psychics, paranormal gifts, and otherwise peculiar oddities that needs to be regulated- and there’s no better (and more uncontrolled) ability for the job then that of our poor fellow's.

Funny, he's undeniably the wrong person for the job.

There are names to be signed in blood. Foundations of crumbling mentality must be entered. The cursing of a family's generation will be wrought. The death of a savior; the life of the deceased. Allegiances with higher alliances shall form and the veil truth of spirits will rip to reveal a world beyond our eyes.

Welcome to the new uncertain life of Azariah ‘Errol’ McClellan. “Congratulations, you’ve been commissioned.”

Mmyup, metric tons of symbolism in this: Similar clothes colors, directions facing, "The Fool" Tarot card itself, the angle of the split road, the split road itself, color schemes- no wait, already mentioned that- direction of the pipes, signs, the state of array the car is in, "The Fall, 2012" phrase, etc etc...

Surprisingly, I intended it to be a strange gradient shading with NO shading on the characters. It's supposed to be a Tarot Card, "The Fool", which are usually flat colored- or so I've seen.

... Well, there's no denying it.

This looks unfinished because it technically is if going strictly by what I originally planned. I simply ran out of time (submitted a whopping TWO MINUTES prior to the deadline) for the ambitious image I had going in my head. I'm very disappointed seeing as how comMISSIONed is my screenwriting brain-boosting-buggy-baby (hopefully not by rape) that I'm endeavoring (like a buggy-baby) to pitch as a Television series. Don't worry, the pitch won't sound as horrid as the above description. I was literally vomiting that out at T-60.

This image is getting a face lift- once I get, y'know, good enough. There's Errol dead-center [no pun intended], our lovely socially-awkward-also-expelled-by-being-the-one-witness Sarah Fionn, and the ever chilled professional of the psychic regulating family business, Claudius. He's so chill, he doesn't need a last name.

... I don't know what else to write that doesn't sound like NPR. GOD BLESS AND THANK YOU FOR TAKING A GANDER AT MY MESS! 8D

D'aaaw, you flatter me, I swear. I'm very glad you like it! I liked it before I sent it- then disliked it- then grew very disheartened by failing to achieve what I wanted- then slowly came to terms with it.

THANKS AGAIN, NEAMDAWG. Your comments never fail to make me grin! 8D

Aww, but you should be happy with it! Because it is AWESOME. You put a lot of thought and effort into it, it looks amazing, and as for feeling like you didn't achieve what you had wanted to - you just have to accept that time will get you there. Time and practice. And a good attitude. Now have a cookie. :cookie:

:) You're too nice, EEP (haha typo, but I like it). c8

D'aw, well, to be honest, my dissatisfaction stems from knowing what I wanted to achieve and falling short. However, now that this reply of mine is SUPER LATE, I'm cool with it. I'll remake it in the future, but can be content with this result too.

Thank you~ 8D

Thank you very much! 8D I appreciate it greatly. Glad you do. Hopefully what I have in mind will be liked more, haha, because I hate how this came out.

WOAH!!! This is amazing! O__O
I hope you win! Because in my opinion, this is the best entry in the competition.

Btw, I also looked through some of your other artwork. Your art style is really cool! 8D

Whoa, really? Wow, that's an enormous compliment and I greatly appreciate it! I completely disagree that this is the best entry of course, but I still find your optimism very encouraging!

Thank you, haha! 8D I'm still very much an amateur and scouring for any sense of style. Knowing that someone enjoys looking at my art (without their eyes burning out followed by the infestation of socket leeches) is always good to hear!

You should have more confidence in your artwork. Maybe it's not at a professional level yet, but it's still amazing!
